Booking terms

Booking terms & conditions

Last updated: 6 August 2026 — draft, pending review by a Portuguese lawyer.

These terms apply to bookings made once the company is registered. No bookings are being taken and no payment can be accepted until registration as a travel and tourism agency in Portugal (RNAVT) is complete.

[COMPANY NAME] and RNAVT n.º [NUMBER] below are placeholders. They are replaced with the registered details on the day the licence is issued, and this page is dated again.

1. The organiser

These packages are organised and sold by [COMPANY NAME], Unipessoal Lda, registered office [ADDRESS], NIPC [NUMBER], registered as a travel and tourism agency with Turismo de Portugal, I.P. under RNAVT n.º [NUMBER] (the “Company”, “we”). Contact: [email protected].

2. Definitions and scope

“Package” means the combination of travel services (accommodation, luggage transport, ancillary services) sold by us as organiser within the meaning of Decreto-Lei n.º 17/2018, which transposes Directive (EU) 2015/2302 (the “Package Travel Law”). These terms, the trip page, the standard information form, and the booking confirmation together form the contract. Flights are not included in any package and are not sold by us.

3. Booking process

  1. You submit a booking request (dates, party, room type, extras). A request is not a contract.
  2. We check availability and reply within 48 hours with a written confirmation offer and deposit invoice.
  3. The contract is concluded when we receive your deposit of 25% of the package price. We then send the booking confirmation with all details required by the Package Travel Law.
  4. The balance is due 42 days before the start date. For bookings made within 42 days of the start date, the full price is payable at confirmation. If the balance is not received by the due date after a reminder, we may treat the booking as cancelled by you (clause 6 applies).

4. Price and what’s included

The package price is stated per person, in euros, VAT included under the special margin scheme for travel agencies. Each trip page states exactly what is included — typically accommodation with private bathroom and breakfast, daily luggage transfer of one bag up to 20 kg per person, digital roadbook and navigation files, pilgrim credential, and email support while you walk — and what is excluded — typically travel to and from the route, lunches and dinners unless stated, travel insurance, personal expenses, and city taxes where these are charged locally.

Price changes after booking. We may increase the price only to reflect changes in fuel or transport costs, taxes or fees imposed by third parties, or exchange rates, and never in the 20 days before departure. Any increase above 8% entitles you to terminate with a full refund. You are entitled to a corresponding price reduction if those costs fall.

5. Changes by you

6. Cancellation by you

Notice must be sent to [email protected] and takes effect on receipt. We refund the amounts paid, less unavoidable payment-processing costs:

Notice before the start date Refund
42 days or more100%
41–21 days50%
20–7 days25%
Under 7 days, or no-show0%

These tiers are our standardised termination fees. On request we will justify the fee against the cost savings we actually made and any alternative deployment of the services.

Unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances. You may terminate without any termination fee and receive a full refund — but no additional compensation — if unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances at the destination or its immediate vicinity significantly affect the performance of the package, or the transport of passengers to it.

7. Changes and cancellation by us

Insignificant changes — for example substituting accommodation of equivalent or higher category in the same stage town — may be made, and we will tell you when they are. If we must significantly alter a main characteristic of the package, or cannot meet a special requirement we accepted, we will inform you without undue delay; you may accept the change, accept a substitute package, or terminate the contract with a full refund.

We may terminate for unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances that prevent performance, with notice given without undue delay and a full refund. We do not cancel trips for lack of minimum numbers: our packages have no minimum group size.

8. Our responsibility, and yours

We are responsible for the performance of all travel services included in the package, regardless of which supplier performs them, and we owe you prompt assistance if you are in difficulty — information on health services, local authorities and consular assistance, and help with communications and alternative arrangements. Remedies, price reduction and compensation follow the Package Travel Law. Our liability for damages other than personal injury, or damage caused intentionally or negligently, is limited to three times the package price.

You are responsible for: being fit to walk the daily stages published for your trip; carrying valid identity and travel documents; arriving at the start hotel on the start date; your conduct at the accommodations; and reporting any lack of conformity without undue delay, so that we can fix it while you are still on the route. The email support line exists for exactly this.

Travel insurance is not included and is strongly recommended — cancellation, medical cover and repatriation. We do not sell insurance.

9. Insolvency protection

As the Package Travel Law requires, the Company participates in the Fundo de Garantia de Viagens e Turismo (FGVT), which secures the refund of payments made and, where transport is included, repatriation, in the event of the Company’s insolvency. Claims are handled by Turismo de Portugal, I.P. and the Provedor do Cliente das Agências de Viagens e Turismo.

10. Complaints

For a lack of conformity during the trip, email us first — most things can be fixed the same day. Formal complaints can be made through the Livro de Reclamações Eletrónico at livroreclamacoes.pt, or the EU online dispute resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. Consumer arbitration: [CONSUMER ARBITRATION CENTRE].

11. Data protection

Personal data is processed to manage your booking, as set out in our privacy policy.

12. Law and jurisdiction

Portuguese law applies. For consumers resident in the EU, the mandatory protections of their country of residence are unaffected. Courts of [COMARCA], Portugal, without prejudice to the mandatory rules on consumer jurisdiction.

A Portuguese-language version of these terms will be published alongside this one. Where the two differ, the Portuguese version prevails.
