The same Camino — logistics handled

For years we've told you the truth: you can plan the Camino Português yourself, and our free guides show you exactly how. They're staying free. But plenty of you have written back with the same message — I've read everything, now can you just handle it? This package is that answer.

It's the full Central Route from Porto's cathedral to Santiago's — 263 km over 12 nights and 11 walking stages. You walk it organised, at your own pace, on the classic waymarked way. We book the rooms worth sleeping in, move your bag to the next town every morning, and answer your email when the day goes sideways.

And let's be straight about one thing: you can't book this yet. We're completing registration as a Portuguese travel agency, and packages go on sale when that's done — expected winter 2026/27. Until then, the founding pilgrims list below is the only thing to join, and it costs nothing.

Why book it

Why book this instead of doing it yourself?

Maybe you shouldn't. We mean that: plenty of pilgrims are best served booking their own beds night by night, and we publish the full DIY maths in our cost & budget guide so you can compare like for like. This package isn't magic — it's the same route, bought differently.

What the price buys is specific: rooms we've actually vetted, in the towns where the stages end — and on the Central route that matters, because the pinch points are real. Rubiães fills first, and a "nearby" bed 4 km off-route quietly turns an 18 km day into a 22 km one. It buys your bag moved every morning without hunting down a courier at each reception. And it buys someone to write to when your knee says stop and tomorrow's stage has to change.

Pre-vetted rooms in the right towns

Private bathroom, real breakfast, at the actual stage end — booked before the small towns sell out.

Bags moved daily

One booking covers all eleven transfers — you carry water, snacks and a rain shell, nothing more.

Someone who answers

Blister, storm, missed turn — write to us and you get a person who knows the route and your itinerary, not a form reply.

Good to know

The package, answered.

The questions we hear most about this trip — answered the same way we write the guides: plainly.

How fit do I need to be for 263 km?

Reasonably active, not athletic. Most days sit between 15 and 28 km on gentle terrain, with one long 34 km day into Ponte de Lima — and because your bag travels by van, you walk with only a daypack, which changes everything. If you can comfortably walk a few hours back to back on consecutive days, you can train the rest. For the unvarnished picture, read our guide to how hard the Camino Português really is.

When should I go?

Late spring (May–June) and early autumn (September–early October) are the sweet spots — warm but walkable, long daylight, the trail lively but not overwhelmed. July and August run hot inland on the Central route, and winter is quiet but wet. Our month-by-month weather guide breaks down every month so you can pick with your eyes open.

Is this a good option for women walking solo?

The Camino Português is one of the world's most walked, best waymarked trails, and women walk it alone in large numbers every year. This package adds a booked private room every night, your bag handled, and an email address that reaches someone who knows exactly where you are — plus a flat €295 single supplement instead of the punishing solo pricing that's typical. We've written about the real questions in our solo female guide to the Camino Português.

How does the luggage transfer actually work?

Each morning you leave one bag (up to 20 kg per person) at your accommodation's reception and walk away with just your daypack. While you're on the trail, the bag is driven to your next night's accommodation, so it's waiting when you arrive. It runs every walking day of the itinerary — all eleven transfers are in the price, with nothing to arrange en route.

Why can't I book right now?

Because selling packaged travel in Portugal legally requires a registered travel agency, and our RNAVT registration is still completing. We won't take a euro of your money before it does. Packages will be operated under a registered Portuguese travel agency (RNAVT); bookings open when registration completes, expected winter 2026/27.

What happens after I join the founding pilgrims list?

Nothing scary. There's no deposit and no obligation — you're joining an email list, not signing a contract. You'll get occasional updates while we finish registration, and when bookings open, founding-list members choose their 2027 dates first — including the Holy Year — at 15% off. If it stops being useful, unsubscribe with one click.

2027 is a Holy Year in Santiago — the route will be busy, and the good rooms will go first. That's exactly why the list exists.
